If loving American Paint is wrong, I don't want
to be right.
The debut release from American Paint is immediately
likeable. Nothing on this record needs multiple listens in order
to grow on you - although you won't want to sell it after one
listen.
What's not to like? Real songs, real stories
- Artistic and Poetic without all of the crap you hate about Artists
and Poets.
One of the many strengths of American Paint is
the beautiful clarity of vocalist Bard Meier's voice. Unlike many
singers who pass off lead vocals with the depth of a sock puppet,
Meier sings with passion and just a touch of world weariness.
Long time partners Meier and guitarist Darren
Harff started the band, adding bassist David Schultz and drummer
Sean Hoffman in early '97. Just five months later they recorded
their first album at Third Ear studios, with Tom Herbers producing
and mastering.
If you're tired of seeing bands working out their
demons on stage, check out American Paint live. Laughing and joking
and displaying an almost eerie chemistry, they toss out songs
that sound instantly familiar, but never derivative. They will
steal your heart.
